Studio practice - gel plate printing
Inspired by my trip to Dale Abbey - I began experimenting with written words texts, initials, playing with marks - scrawling writing , more precise bold lettering, I worked from photos of names and initials carved into the stone drawing them onto sheets of acetate and then projecting them onto the rubbings I had taken from Chesterfield and the Hermitage - playing around with how the two different ways information interacts with each other.
More work inspired by the graffiti at the Hermitage- gel plate prints - experimenting with overlapping letters - using the gel plate and letting the acrylic paint partially dry on the plate created this worn faded effect -
